Run gconf-editor.
Go to desktop->gnome->background and uncheck "draw_background".  You'll
probably also want to take the time to change the following so it won't
mess with your enlightenment settings.

apps->gnome_settings_daemon->start_screensaver   (uncheck)
apps->nautilus->preferences->show_desktop   (uncheck)
