I didn't want a mode but only a keyboard shortcut to 
the view->hide read messages to avoid using the mouse clicking twice. 

   ctrl-h or something else.


I'm a keyboard addict. Moving my right hand from keyboard to mouse and
back from mouse to keyboard is a waste of time :-)
