I believe I have esd running: if I do ps -aef|grep esd, I get

/usr/bin/esd -terminate -nobeeps -as 2 -spawnfd 37


Also, I started YAST, and went to Network:Sound:Esound. Is this what you
mean by the "daemon list"? There are a bunch of options:
ESD_BEEPS ["no"]
ESD_TCP   ["yes"]
ESD_PUBLIC ["yes"]
ESD_BIND   [""]
ESD_UNIX   ["no"]
ESD_AS     [2]
ESD_OPTIONS [""]

In [] I listed the settings in my /etc/sysconfig/esound file. Are your
settings the same?
