[Evolution] using evolution with openldap

I am struggling with using evolution 2.02 (Fedora Core - 3) and writing
to openldap.

If I use rootdn, I have no problem.
If I bind as any user, unless I have ACL's as access to * by * write, I
get an error which appears as 
slapd[4564]: get_ssa: conn 0 unknown attribute type=fileAs (17)
when I try to create an entry.

Is there any info / web pages / people actually using Evolution to write
to user address books on openldap (other ldap?)
