hi,
make sure the calendar is checked and displayed in which you set the new
appointment up; the marked calendar is always the defualt one when
setting up a new appointment and i'm also always running into
this... ;-)

if that is not the case, is the appointment displayed if you close
evolution, do "evolution --force-shutdown" and then restart evolution?
